CENTER FOR CULTURE & DEVELOPMENT


Based on the Transformational framework of ministry, this new facility provides a wholistic training course that is appropriate for cross cultural missions. Trans-Missions, a 3-month long training program, is designed to equip missionaries for church planting and community development work. The modules are practical and all with hands on component. A one week community immersion in a tribal village is included to provide a ground level perspective and experience. Opportunities for short term overseas missions will also be offered at the end of the program. Students are requires to finish the 8 core modules and 3 units of Electives. Optional Special Topics are also offered. All modules and special topics are open to non Trans-Missions students.

CURRICULUM

1. CORE MODULES
Condensed World Mission Course

This module traces the Church’s unique role in the plan and purpose of God for the redemption of mankind. It also includes topics on culture and partnership.

School of Workers

A simple and transferrable Bible training course designed to equip students for evangelism and discipleship using the cell group method. The desired result is for church planters to raise up workers that would in turn reach out to others.

Rural Development

Explores principles and practical approaches to helping rural people manage, conserve and develop their resources particularly in the area of sustainable agriculture and sound environmental practices. Hands on activities include the practice of a simple gardening technique.

Chronological Bible Story Telling

This is an evangelistic tool that communicates Biblical truths and theology through the narrative method. This culturally relevant approach starts the account from creation and ends by providing a foundation for How & Why Jesus Christ is the only One who can save mankind.

Principles of Adult Education

This module teaches the principle and practice of participatory learning. The students will be trained how to make lesson designs to maximize adult learning experiences.

Exploring Culture

After going through the Biblical principles of understanding culture, the students will walk through the process of cultural exegesis. The aim of this module is for the students to come up with a draft framework for studying the culture of their target people.

Wholistic Development

The module examines the Biblical mandate for transformation and trace the church’s response throughout history. Practical steps in project development and management are also included.

Understanding Filipino Culture

Studying the complexities of the Filipino cultural heritage would offer a practical resource for students who will venture into cross cultural missions. This will provide a foundation as they study and experience the cultural dynamics of their target people.

2. ELECTIVE MODULES
Community Health Development (2 units)

Along with practical lessons on hygiene, proper nutrition, herbal remedies and first aid, this module also includes practical strategies of developing a community based health care system.

Integrated Farming (1 unit)

This module includes the principle and hands-on practice of SALT (Sloping Agricultural Land Technology) and Natural Farming Technology.

Adult Functional Literacy t (1 unit)

An alternative teaching strategy to provide literacy and numeracy skills for adults. Students will be able to make learning designs that integrate functional content and can be taught in both classroom and tutorial settings.

Foundational Learning for Indigenous Children (1 unit)

Based on the required competencies pre-school children need to prepare them for 1st grade, this module teaches curriculum and lesson designing that provides spiritual foundation and utilizes local cultural resources.

Community Peace Advocacy (1 unit)

Based on the Shalom framework for peace, this strategy will equip would be missionaries to deal with conflict issues in their target communities.

3. OPTIONAL SPECIAL TOPICS
Partnership Development (3 Saturdays)

A valuable tool for missionaries in developing and sustaining partnerships which is a necessity in cross cultural mission work.

Language Learning (2 Saturdays)

Principles and strategies of language acquisition which is vital in cross cultural communication.


ADMISSIONS


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Sent by a local church after at least 1 year of involvement
2. A high school graduate
3. Adequately proficient in English
4. Physically fit
5. 18 to 45 years of age


REQUIREMENTS:

1. Pastor’s Recommendation Letter
2. High School Diploma/Certificate
3. Medical Certificate


FEES:

Local – Php5,500.00

Foreign – US$1,400.00
