Between January 9 and February 8, 2003, two teams accompanied TMFI for an adventure of a lifetime to Davao, Southern Philippines.
The first team, students from the Asian Center for Missions (ACM), would become a source of joy and inspiration to the Matigsalug tribes. They intended to come to minister, but they found themselves more ministered to in return. The week-long exposure trip was highlighted with the distribution of food packages and immersion in the tribal community. Rafting down the Davao River was a bonus! Despite the adventurous spirit they came with, the hair-raising motorcycle ride proved to be quite the challenge for some.
Then, transcending differences in culture and background, a second team from Pennsylvania, USA traveled in, overjoyed at the opportunity to be a blessing to the tribes. The US team facilitated the finishing touches to the bridge which included a coat of new paint. The love of the tribal children had a profound impact on the American visitors.
Thank God for another 18 young lives touched by this experience - to love the poorest of the poor and to have a life-changing experience in the mountains of the Philippines!
