In October, 2006,
OMF Literature Inc. published:
Blood for Blood--Pangayaw: The Right to Kill.
by Pio Gabad Arce
'Blood for Blood is the story of three men--a tribal clan chief, an army platoon leader, and a missionary pastor
whose lives intertwine amidst tribal vengeance, political pressure, and widespread poverty in the jungles of present-day
Davao. Although the story and characters are fictitious, the tribal legal right to kill called pangayaw is based on
accounts of real events as told by Manobos to Pio Gabad Arce.'
The story is about forgiveness gleaned from the 20 years work among these people. Many people have sent us messages
how the book has touched them. We are praying that it could be made into a film.
"Filipino values flow naturally throughout the book. It wants to make you laugh and cry at the same time.
The relativeness of violent death, the loss of sons, and Jesus’ willing and powerful sacrifice combine to create a
strong theme."
- Meriam Adeney, Novelist
"It is truly an inspired masterpiece waiting to hit the silver screen."
- Gary Valenciano, UNICEF Ambassador and singer / songwriter
"As an American-born reader, and one that has never been to the mountains of Gumitam, I was fascinated by this culture so worlds apart from my own.
With this book, one comes frightfully face to face with the suffering, brutality, and demonic strongholds that are a day to day reality for these people, a reality
that God can change."
- Kelly Libatique, President, Concord/Walnut Creek, CA, USA Gideons Intl. Camp
