FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does TMFI reach out Internationally?
We work with several international groups, but currently our efforts are focused on the indigenous tribal peoples of the southern Philippines in Mindanao (see the Location link on the left). Our headquarters are in the city of Davao. We plan to expand more with time.
Why do you ask for a Pastor's recommendation if I want to participate in one of TMFI's training programs?
Visiting a "Third World" country as a tourist can be stressful enough to make many turn around and go
home. But to combine normal difficulties and "culture shock" with vigorous physical strain and working
with people for whom poverty, suffering, and death is routine can be downright traumatic. Sadly, some
who have good intentions to help end up not fulfilling their commitments. We want to make sure that
people who want to do this work are called to do so and are ready physically, emotionally, and
spiritually. A Pastor's endorsement is no guarantee of course, but often helps. Please see our
Missions Trip Guidelines
page for more information.
Do you teach the Bible, and if so, what denomination are you affiliated with?
Yes, we teach the Bible, our teachings are Christian-based, and we are non-denominational. One of our missions is to enable individuals to reach out to their own people with the Gospel. Our page will tell you what we believe and teach; this page also contains some helpful informational links.
What does TMFI need the most?
The number one need is always willing volunteers who can take time out of their busy lives to give "blood, sweat, and tears" to the lost and needy. The second, of course, is monetary donations so that we can pay what small staff we have, purchase supplies, and keep our office equipment updated.
